Adult Education
READING, WRITING, MATHS AND ENGLISH
Did you leave school early or had a disrupted education? Do you want to improve your reading, writing, speaking, maths and general education? Would you like to improve your chances of getting a job? Are you considering going onto further study? Would you like to get into another course? Or do you simply want to improve your skills.
We offer 2 different certificates in adult education:
Certificate 1 in Initial Literacy and Numeracy is a course suited for people who may have left school early or may need extra help to improve their skills.
Certificate in General Education for Adults we offer Certificate I, II, and III.
You can enter the course at any level depending on your skills and study background. There are no formal entry level requirements.
There are no exams to pass the certificates. The tutors record your progress in each subject areas and you achieve passes depending on the work that is completed in class.
What does the course cover?
The course covers four subject areas which can be taught together or separately:
· Reading and Writing · Spoken Language · Basic Maths · General subjects like: science, computing, creative arts, history, geography.
Hours of the course:
The course is conducted on Monday and Wednesday during the day from 9:00am to 3:00pm (there is no class during school holidays)

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES
Classes for people from a non-English speaking background. Improve your spoken and written English. Classes held on Tuesday morning from 9:30m to 12:00pm are friendly and informal. Every one welcome. |

Between Ages & Stages
For young people who have left school.
Based on Certificate in General Education for Adults (as above). Covers life skills, literacy & numeracy skills. Builds self esteem using relevant education techniques in a fun environment with a youth focus.
This program aims to help develop young people’s confidence and self-esteem. This is done by using relevant educational techniques in a fun environment with a youth focus to achieve a range of measurable learning outcomes leading to new goals and aspirations.
General workplace expectations, practices and issues are also looked at in the program. Work orientation, job search processes and job application skills (resumes) are taught to help with the transition from school to employment, in a casual, part-time or full-time capacity. |
